Overview:
The Director of Finance Business Systems is responsible for working with Finance, IT, and other departments to configure, maintain, and enhance financial systems and subsystems. Plan, design, develop, and launch efficient processes and systems to support core organizational functions and requirements. Generates and compiles reports based on findings, complete with probable causes and possible solutions to systems issues, recommended improvements to or new requirements for financials processes and operational procedures. Apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help maximize the benefit of IT system investments and to assist in implementing new financials systems.
Responsibilities: ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Collaborate with project stakeholders and senior management to define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals.
- Perform cost-benefit and return on investment analyses for proposed systems to aid management in making implementation decisions.
- Chart existing financial processes in order to define current financial activities for the development of procedures and models.
- Meet with decision makers, systems owners, and end users to define financial operational requirements, priorities and systems goals. Document system issues and desired solution for resolution.
- Lead design sessions in prototyping new systems for the purpose of enhancing financial processes, operations, and information process flow. Partner with Programmer Analysts and Business Users to ensure goals are achieved and solution design meets business need.
- Work with IT development team to effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
- Research, review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develop strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems and processes.
- Prototype new procedures for the purpose of enhancing processes, operations and information process flow.
- Prepare and deliver reports, recommendations, or alternatives that address existing and potential trouble areas in operating systems and processes across the organization.
- Communicate and present process changes, enhancements and modifications to management, peers, staff and other employees so that issues and solutions are understood. Incorporate “best practices” approaches.
- Work with IT development team to create process and systems models, system design proposals, functional user specifications, diagrams and charts to provide direction to system programmers to aid Programmer Analyst in prototyping and technical design documentation.
- Coordinate and perform in-depth tests, including end-user reviews, for modified and new systems, and other post-implementation support.
- Maintain current knowledge of in-house financial systems. Conduct research and attend conferences and symposiums to maintain working knowledge of applicable replacement systems and solutions and industry best practices.
- Work with business users, Financials management and other IT personnel to ensure appropriate test scenarios and test cases are documented and executed for application quality assurance testing.
- Conduct project post analysis and create a recommendations report in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
- Assist in completion of special projects on as needed basis.
- Support production financial applications and end users.
- Create complex financial reports on an as needed basis using Corizon system resources.
- Analyze and recommend system updates, fixes and upgrades. Work with Finance team to identify approach and timing. Ensure proper communication.
- Ensure and maintain appropriate system security.
- Ensure compliance with established security and audit procedures. Participate in system audits.
- Responsible for system configuration with IT partners.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, MIS. Accounting systems and controls experience a plus.
- Experience Level: 5+ years experience financial operations, systems development or analysis, business analysis, and project management. Experience with PeopleSoft Financials and data warehouse/BI (Hyperion) experience preferred. PeopleSoft HCM experience preferred.
- Tools and Technology: Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Visio, VB, SQL, reporting/query tools, nVision, PeopleSoft Financials, PeopleSoft Query
- Certificates and Licenses: Certified Business Analyst (CBA) preferred, CPA preferred
- Language Ability: Strong verbal and written and presentation communication skills. Effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.
- Work Environment: Office environment with limited travel primarily to other corporate office locations as necessary. Subject to after-hours work to resolve problems or meet implementation deadlines.
